More Coffee, Please

Such a week I had—many visits to visit the readers of my fellow authors, much to post, posts to friends’ blogs, prizes to award, chatting to be done. All of this was in celebration of Snowed by the Wallflower which danced into the world last Tuesday. Yea and hurray! It feels good to have a new book in publication.

In the midst of it, I lost my traveling companion for my trip this month. No one’s fault. Stuff happens. There was much cancelling to do, and if you know airlines, it was complicated. Never daunted, an idea occurred to me.  I squeezed my plans down to the size of my grandson’s spring break week. He and I are going to Rome in March, and I’m determined to get to Assisi even if it is a day trip by train.

All that activity, both promotion and in real life, put a dent in my writing and wore me out. Plane crashes, one only three miles from me, didn’t help. Yet a brand new month dawned.

coffeecropped-217x300 Author's Blog But First Coffee My goals for February? #1 Draft a proposal for Dragonblade to republish my Dangerous and Children of Empire series. Folks notice they are unavailable. If you need one in the meantime I have a few print copies to sell and some in PDF. #2 Finish my story for Love’s Perilous Road. Beta 1 drafts are due February 14. #3 Read other authors Beta 1 drafts. At this stage the stories are rough. We are looking for shared events and characters, making sure the timeline works and our details mesh. It is the fun part of a Bluestocking Belle collection.

And here I am with a whole new week ahead of me: three more reader group visits on Facebook, a grumpy car that needs to go to the shop, and a scheduled brunch, but this week I will write through. With some determination I should get close to the end of my first draft for Love’s Perilous Road.

But first, coffee.
